Board of Health Minutes 5/7/12
MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES

Date:  May 7, 2012
Present:  Stephen Enoch, Peter Kolodziej and John Makuc
Also Present: Sarah Bankert, Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Cooley Dickenson Hospital

The meeting began at 4pm

1.  The Board signed the contract with Sarah Bankert and Cooley Dickenson Hospital for the work she will be doing for the Board of Health town nurse study.  Sarah will design a survey for health providers and analyze the data, she will also design a survey for residents and analyze the data and she will report her findings back to the Board of Health.  Sarah is donating some of her time but a portion will be contracted for $1,190.  She will not be responsible for the mailing of administering of the survey.  It was suggested to open an account with something like Survey Monkey or Market Research to make it easier to compile the data.  Peter noted that the town’s insurance company may have money available to the Board to help in paying for these services.
a.  The Board discussed what kind of information they are looking to get from the survey and what population it should go to.  They are looking for more qualitative vs. quantitative information and to make sure that if a town nurse is needed that we aren’t duplicating services that are already being offered through other agencies.
b.  A draft of the provider survey was reviewed as well as who this should be sent to and how (email, snail mail, etc).  It was agreed that an online survey through something like Survey Monkey would be the most beneficial at least for the provider survey.  The Board provided M. Noe with a list of providers that the 1st survey should be sent to.
c.  Sarah will create the survey online and then M. Noe will send the emails with an introduction letter out to all the providers.
d.  The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
e.  Next steps: M. Noe will set up an account on survey monkey (or similar online service) by the end of the week, Sarah will have a sample ready to test for bugs by June 1st, then it will be sent out with a request for it to be completed within 2 weeks.
f.  The results of the provider survey will aid in creating the resident survey which would be phase II.
2.  The minutes from 4.23.12 were approved as written.
3.  The Board reviewed the amendment request for Special Permit #10-06 and determined that the Board of Health did not have any issues providing that the maximum flows of the septic and the daily use of water aren’t exceeded.
4.  The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 21, 2012 at 4pm.

The meeting adjourned at 5:20pm
