MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES
Date: April 2, 2012
Present: Peter Kolodziej, Stephen Enoch, Robert Annelli and John Makuc
Also Present: Sarah Bankert of the Western Mass Center for Healthy Communities and Paula Schutzmann
The meeting began at 4pm
1. The Board met with Sarah at the recommendation of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to discuss how Sarah could be of assistance in creating a needs assessment survey for the Board to help determine if a town nurse is needed. Paula who was here to represent Kathie Tryon who was unable to make it tonight provided the Board with 2 sample surveys Kathie created. The Board sees the needs assessment as a way to determine what all the age groups in town might need and then assessing the cost of associated equipment, etc prior to making this proposal to the town. Everyone discussed how the Board might be able to ween some of the information needed from other sources in addition to the survey. Elder Services and the local VNA’s were suggested. Everyone reviewed the
demographics M. Noe compiled based on numbers from the Assessor’s and Town Clerk’s data of Monterey. Sarah encouraged the Board to determine the scope, look at data that is already available (Fairview has done a community needs assessment which isn’t available online as of yet) and their documents state that they would perform an individual community survey. Hosting public forums were also discussed. It was agreed that the survey/needs assessment and compilation of the data would be done by the Board and once the need was determined they would work on the scope of the program if it is determined to be needed.
2. The minutes from the March meetings were approved as written.
3. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 23, 2012 at 4pm.
The meeting adjourned at 5:30pm
