MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES
Date: February 2, 2009
Present: John Makuc, Stephen Enoch and Robert Annelli
Also Present: Chief Backhaus
The meeting began at 3:40pm
- The minutes from 1.26.09 were approved as written.
- John Makuc spoke with Marge Gulick and she confirmed that she would no longer take animals from the current ACO but she will accept them from the Police Department on behalf of the Town. The Board is going to ask Nora to attend the next meeting to discuss this with her. Chief Backhaus is ok with picking up stray dogs and has a collapsible kennel that we can temporarily house dogs in here. The Board asked if there were any dog related items that the Police Department can use that we could buy with the grant money we have. He requested a rabies pole for each cruiser and a leash for each cruiser. Chief Backhaus offered an alternate solution if the Board would want to the ACO position to be combined into the Police Department’s job description. He noted that the Police currently responds to the
majority of the animal calls now.
- The Board reviewed their budget requests and will submit them to the Finance Committee, each line item was level funded except for the Board of Health expenses which was dropped from $1000.00 to $400.00
