MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES
Date: September 15, 2008
Present: John Makuc, Robert Annelli, Stephen Enoch and Peter Kolodziej
The meeting began at 3:45pm
1. The minutes from 8/11, 8/26 & 9/8/08 were approved as written.
2. Mail was reviewed.
3. A letter was written to KSA-MASS informing them of the unanimous vote taken at last week’s meeting; the Board agreed to keep the fine for the violations at $5000.
4. The Board reviewed a special permit application for 12 New Marlboro Rd and responded to the ZBA with the following:
a. The Board will require that an application and plans be submitted for the connection of the plumbing from the workspace to the main septic system. The Board is also concerned if any potentially hazardous materials or products will be used in either of the businesses. If either business will be using hazardous materials or products such as but not limited to petroleum based products, materials to clean brushes, etc. the Board will require that they be properly disposed of at a licensed hazardous waste hauler facility or one of the yearly CET hazardous waste days. The Board also wanted a confirmation of the number of employees (if any) working for either of the businesses and if there will be any retail store space or if the items will be sold wholesale.
5. The Board discussed Town Counsel’s letter to the ZBA advising the Board that the USPS ZBA Application was not subject to local zoning and therefore the letter/opinion the Board of Health wrote to the ZBA regarding their proposed project was not read into record. John is going to speak with Mark Makuc, operator of the Monterey Water Company to check that he is aware of the proposed project and the Board’s concern with the old well being properly decommissioned and the location of the current water line. Peter Kolodziej will also call Town Counsel regarding the matter.
6. The next Board of Health meeting will be on October 6 at 3:30.
