MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES
Date: June 18, 2007
Present: John Makuc, Stephen Enoch, Peter Kolodziej and Robert Annelli
The meeting began at 3:45 pm
1. Water analysis results from the Pedersen property on Main Rd were reviewed and discussed. There was a high nitrate level detected which prompted the need for the analysis. The Pedersens well has a high level of nitrate which they noticed from a taste difference back in March. They have been advised to not drink the water. A follow up investigation is in the process. P. Kolodziej believes the high nitrate level may be from some fertilizer being applied within 30 feet of the well. P. Kolodziej suggested sending a letter to the abutters to assure there aren’t any further applications to the property and to have them test their water as well. P. Kolodziej will contact the Pedersens with the results of the abutters water tests.
2. Paula Schutzmann contacted John Makuc wanting to know if the Board of Health had decided who they were going to use as their VNA for the upcoming Fiscal Year. The board discussed the 2 available options. The board seemed to want to try Lee VNA as they seemed a bit more willing to try new things and branch out but their proposal is twice the cost of Berkshire VNA. P. Kolodziej mentioned that Berkshire VNA seems to have more resources than that of the Lee VNA.
3. No responses have been received from the survey that was done by the board regarding VNA and Board of Health services.
4. The minutes from 5.21.07 were approved as written.
5. Mail was reviewed.
The meeting adjourned at 4:50pm
