Discussion: The coming fiscal year is going to be particularly challenging with the new library financing, the correction of the firetruck financing, and the continuing escalation of the pension and insurance costs. Accordingly, the Finance Committee recommends the personnel increases this year be held to 2%. Additionally, holding next year’s budgets at or below current budgets will be important.
Further, the Finance Committee recommends that each department head present as part of its budget any ideas that he/she may have to make the department more efficient and/or effective which could result in a savings to the town.
