The board discussed the expense report and the capital plan

The board discussed the financial aspects of providing the town administrator with an office. The board voted unanimously to recommend the following to the Select Board, based on providing private office space with the least expense:

  • Divide the front office, which has 2 doors, 2 windows, 2 desks, and 2 phones, by renting an inexpensive wall divider. These minimal funds can come from the SB expense budget.
  • If there is a special town meeting, write an RFP for adding windows to the records room, dividing it, and replacing, if necessary the hallway door with a complaint door. This will make a more permanent office.
The board discussed compensation and will recommend that the Select Board survey the compensation packages of employees in the area, including salaries, vacation and sick time, health insurance, etc.

The board will also request the Select Board schedule an all boards/departments meeting for January 11, 4pm. Mr. Weisz suggested, and the FC agrees, that this meeting should be used to both introduce the town administrator and clarify his role for all boards, and also spell out the budget process for all those submitting request forms.

A letter was sent to the Select Board regarding voted matters above.

The board discussed the Curtis Road bridge. Is it not on the Mass. DOT Accelerated Bridge Program list.

The board discussed writing an article for the Monterey News on the role of the finance committee in the budget process.
