Finance Committee Meeting Minutes
11/18/14
10:30 – 11:15am
Present: Dan Moriarity, Donald Clawson, and Stanley Ross
- Don has been working on calculating how much of the allocated budgets each department has spent over the last 3 years and whether or not they have stayed under, remained level or have gone over. So far he has gotten reports for the last 3 years for the highway and the police department. The Accountant has been asked for the same reports for all of the other departments but has yet to receive them.
- Discussion ensued about when the budget request forms should be sent out to all the departments and it was agreed to send them out now with a due date of January 15th. M. Noe will be asked to prepare and send these out as per usual.
- Don reported that he has had discussions with Shawn Tryon regarding large budget items he expects to have, one of which is a large unexpected culvert project that will affect his highway maintenance budget for this current year.
- The Finance Committee discussed that they feel it might be necessary at some point in the near future to hire a grant writer that would look for and write grants for all the departments within the town.
- Stan asked for an update on what the ECAC has been working on; Don reported that a format has been decided for a job description template and that determining what the job descriptions should state doesn’t fall under the jurisdiction of the ECAC. Nothing has been discussed on compensation and salaries to date.
- The Committee plans to meet next on December 17th at 2pm.
