Monterey Cultural Council Minutes for November 3. 2014
Meeting called to order at 7 pm.
Council Members present: Roz Halberstadter, Pat Salomon, Fiona De Ris, Susan Johnson, Wendy Jensen, Steve Weisz
Old Business:
-Studio Tour planning: we will run an announcement in the Shpper’s Guide for the Studio tour 2 weeks and a week before the date of the Tour at $35/week. Pat will also put an announcement in the Monterey News.
Sue Knoll and Judy Hayes will be contacted to talk with Fiona about a shared space to show in the Harvest Barn or at The Road side Cafe at Gould Farm.
-It was mentioned that it would be good if a CC member could attend the meeting at the Library on 11/8/14 at 10:30 am about the library business, the Knox Gallery and plans for the library renovations. Steve said that he planned on going to this meeting.
New Business:
-We continued the process of reviewing grant applications for this year. We had 9 new grants for this meeting.
-We discussed our priorities that we want to use as guidelines in choosing which candidates to award grant money. Primary priorities are that the candidates be Monterey artists or artists/activities that directly benefit people/students in Monterey and that we have a good variety of activities among the grantees.
-We divided all of the applications into 2 categories; one for school activities or that benefit school age children and one for non-school activities. We then reviewed the non-school grants and decided on yes, no or maybe for each one and put them in appropriate piles for the next meeting.
-Meeting adjourned at 9 pm. The next meeting date: Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 pm at the Library.
