The Monterey Cultural Council

Present at the meeting: Pat Salomon, Susan Johnson, Kit Patten, Wendy Jensen, Roz Halberstader, Fiona De Reis and Diana Deacon.
-Returned questionnaires from our surveys were read. Pat volunteered to coalesce the responses into a meaningful form.
-Fiona sorted this years’ (FY14) grant applications according to whether they were school oriented/ adult oriented and devised a chart for collapsing grant application information.
-One grant application was reviewed.
Treasurers report, budget, dispersal of funds:
-Kit reported some confusion with the town regarding dispersal of funds to grantees that is now being cleared up.
-Anne Barnes, who received a CC grant to write a book, requested an extension of the grant due to family illness. We agreed to the extension.
-Mary Paul Yates submitted a request for reimbursement for her Knox Gallery lecture.
Studio Tour:
-Maureen Banner has created a poster and written an advertisement for the Monterey news.
-Emma’s husband is creating a poster for the studio tour.
-Roz reported back on area artists that had been contacted regarding the studio tour. Wendy and Kit will make follow-up calls to several artists. As there were very few artists interested in the group space it was decided that the artists that require a display area should try to display their work in a friend’s studio.
-Pat is arranging for Kat Abbott to interview one or more of the artists on the tour for an article in the Berkshire Eagle. An additional publicity article will be written by Pat for Berkshire magazine.
-Fiona will host a tea at the Road Side Restaurant at 4:00 on the day of the studio tour, pending approval from the board of directors at Gould Farm.
-Extra meetings will be scheduled to review grant applications. Grant proposals will be reviewed on Monday November 4 at 7:00 pm, and at our regular meeting on Thursday November 21 at 4:15.
