The Monterey Cultural Council

Present at the meeting: Pat Salomon, Susan Johnson, Kit Patten, Wendy Jensen, Fiona De Reis and Diana Deacon.
- Jazz in the basement with Don Mikkelsen and his band was a huge success. The event will be held again, possibly in October. Admission may be charged next time. Fiona provided the round tables at the last jazz night, which was a very heavy moving job. Diana will check on the prices of round folding tables from Costco, which might be stored in the church for future events.
- Kit reported on the crop circles lecture. Attendance was disappointing.
- Pat reported the poetry workshop held by Don Barkin. The attendance was adequate and the quality high.
- A survey will be mailed to all Monterey residents soliciting input as to what events people might like the council to support in the future.
- Kit will make a box for depositing the completed surveys as well as a poster advertising the next grant cycle.
- Pat and Fiona will post grant applications and posters in visible locations in town.
- This years’ studio tour will be held on Dec 7. Diana suggested consulting the Knox Gallery exhibit committee regarding additional artists who may wish to be included on the tour.
- The possibility of adding another group display space to the studio tour was discussed. This would be in church basement.
