Monterey Cultural Council Minutes for August 16, 2012
Meeting called to order at 4:30pm.
Council Members present: Lynne Leavitt (Chair), Diana Deacon Ritter, Roz Halberstadter, Pat Salomon, Kathryn Roberts, Fiona De Ris, Susan Johnson, Kit Patten, Wendy Jensen
Old Business:
-We had one participant in our Monterey Fest Emerging Artist competition. Charlotte Mickelwright, 8 years old. Kathryn made posters and handed them out to be posted around. Diana and Kathryn will make sure an announcement gets into the Monterey News for Sept.
-Pat will get some publicity into the Monterey News announcing our next grant cycle
-Robin O’Herin’s workshop was cancelled. Robin wishes to change the format but the Council discussed that the State grant cannot be changed once it is approved. Kathryn will talk to Robin about this.
-A date was set for the Mushroom Walk, Sunday, Sept. 23. Roz will contact John Wheeler and Mark Makuc at the library to see about having it there. Kit will do the sign board. Pat will put an ad in Monterey News. Susan and Kathryn will help out the day of the event.
-Wendy brought a draft of a form for the Council to use to keep track of events, who the contact will be, location, time, publicity, cost, setup/cleanup, etc. Council agreed to use this form for all of the Council sponsored events.
New Business:
-Lynne met with town accountant, Steve Pullen, to organize sending funding details to the state.
-Lynne also handed out the Open Meeting Law Management Tips, there was some discussion about making sure our meetings are posted properly.
-As of early September we were awarded $3800 for the upcoming grant cycle.
-Fiona and Pat printed out the application guidelines and the application process for all of us to read over and review before the upcoming grant cycle.
-Discussion was had about finding someone to be on the committee that has computer skills and that might be interested in being Chairperson. Lynne will only do it for one year.
-Wendy will be sending out information to potential participants for the upcoming, Dec. 1st Monterey Makers Studio Tour.
Meeting adjourned at 5:30pm. Next meeting date: Sept. 27th @ 4pm
