Local Cultural Council Minutes 2/18/10
Meeting was called to order 4pm by John Heffernan.
Present were: Laurily Epstein, Susan Johnson, Kathryn Roberts, Neil McIniss, Wendy Jensen, and Lynne Leavitt

John reported a conversation with Kaitlin at MCC state office re: our grants and a checklist for completion. We are finished with that, and on to the program for 2010.

Discussion centered around the Monterey musicians and how to present some type of program involving them.  It was decided to hire Joe Baker to organize a "Strawberry Hootnanny" at the Meeting House on Saturday, May 29th between 6pm to 8pm (approximately).  We plan a free concert first, and many varieties of strawberry shortcakes at the end.  This falls on Memorial Day weekend, and is a perfect time for Monterey residents, second homeowners, and guests.  We have the money in  our budget, and MCC is raring to go!!

Other programs considered are: Jane Kasten, who will present a program on herbs and health (Pharmacy in the Kitchen).  April might be a good time to coordinate with spring planting  for local gardeners. Laury will set a date with Jane.

Trillium was also mentioned.

My editorial comment is that I am so fortunate to be a member of the Monterey Cultural Council. This group is creative, energetic, and a  wonderful addition to the town and its quality of life!  Thanks are due to the State of Massachusetts, and the Town of Monterey for providing funding to make it happen.

Meeting adjourned 5pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynne Leavitt
Recording Secretary
