Monterey Cultural Council
Meeting: June 11, 2009

Maureen reported on the Mass Cultural Council informational meeting a week or so earlier.
1. The Mass CC website has been redesigned. She suggests we all take a look around at the new services available. Also, starting this year, all grant applications will be filed online. So from now on, nobody will have to make copies of every application for every member, and nobody will have to copy verbiage from the applicationss onto the website. massculturalcouncil.org
2. There is also a new site we can use if we wish: massmatch.com. No, it is not a dating service. It's a place to find or market arts, crafts, music, etc.
Maureen mentioned that Karen Anderson might want to join the Cultural Council. Karen does a lot of online marketing for community affairs. She'd bring a skill set we don't seem to have on the Council. Mo volunteered to talk to Karen.
Dianna would like to stop doing the publicity. Maureen volunteered to take over. Dianna will turn over her address lists and press release formats, and share her special, patented secrets.
Co-chairs Dianna and Joel are both leaving the Council at the beginning of October. They asked if any two people would like to start taking over. Ideally, the new co-chairs will be familiar with the few puny responsibilities of the job by the time D&J step down. Maureen and John volunteered. Thanks, kids.
Joel has been in touch with Liz Queler, a singer from New York, who made such a hit when she and her son performed at a concert here in town last summer. Liz and her husband have wanted to do a family concert for Monterey. We decided to have their concert on the Sunday of the Independence Day Weekend. It will be at the Church on Sunday evening, seven o'clock . The show will be free, of course, and we'll have refreshments downstairs after the show.
Joel will talk to MaryKate Jordan to reserve the Church for that evening.
Neil will talk to Kenn Basler about providing refreshments.
Joel and Maureen will get started on publicity, ads and posters.
RE: Big Photo Show. The list of judges is official: Jon Sylbert, Arthur Hillman, Peggy Reeves.
There's a lot to do for the Photo Show. But right now, we have the concert on our plate; so we'll get serious about the Photo Show after July 5.
Everybody make sure to come to the concert—and bring a bunch of people. It's going to be a great show.
