Minutes of Monterey Cultural Council Meeting

January 10, 2007
Members present: Joe Baker, Maureen Banner, Dianna Downing, Susan Johnson, Kathryn Roberts, Joel Schick, Julie Shapiro
Purpose of meeting: Discuss plans for Photo Contest; other business as necessary.
We discussed plans for THE PHOTO SHOW:
The display will be held Memorial Day weekend. We cannot use the Tea House, as hoped; it may not be structurally secure enough. We will check to see if the church basement will be available.
Joe Baker will ask the Select Board if they still want to support this event (they came to us with the idea, and asked us to plan and run the event), and if they still want to produce a calendar, using photos from the show.
Kathryn thought that, if the Select Board decided not to produce a calendar, some other town organization might, e.g., The Bidwell House.
Julie Shapiro brought in a draft of a prospectus. We discussed details; Joe will edit the prospectus in time for our next meeting.
Dianna will write an article, Joel will design an ad for the next Monterey News.
We discussed prizes again, but came to no conclusion. Discussed possible judges.
Gould Farm has requested our help in locating artists for their gala, coming up in April. They plan an event around artist-made bird houses.
We all agreed to help, and will give them any contact info we have.
We also filled out the budget request form for the next town meeting.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, January 30, 2007
