CONSERVATION COMMISSION

Present: Tim Lovett, Dave Dempsey, Dennis Lynch, Claudia Crane and Dominic Stucker
The meeting convened at 6:00p.m.
Traynor – NOI - 74 Tyringham – reconstruct existing dwelling, garage, re-configure driveway and remove trees (T. Lovett is the project manager)
This is a continued hearing. Chris Tryon of Berkshire Geo-Technologies was present to review the project. Since last month there was a Zoning Board of Appeals meeting which will result in changes to the originally submitted plans. Comments from Natural Heritage have not yet been received. Plantings the Conservation Commission would like to see were discussed. The hearing will be continued to the May meeting.
Franck/Triem – 36 Elephant Rock Rd – RDA – extend new dock from shore (D. Lynch is the project manager)
Peter Franck and Kathleen Triem were present to review the project details. The existing dock permit doesn’t meet the owner’s needs therefore they have applied for a new permit. The project was approved as submitted as a N3.
Massachusetts Electric Company – Northwest Cove Rd – RDA – conduct electric distribution line maintenance and improvement activities (C. Crane is the project manager)
Representatives of Tighe & Bond were present to review the project details. The project was approved as submitted as a N3.
Amidon – 4 Sylvan Rd – RDA – to repair retaining wall and remove cement guardrail posts (D. Stucker is the project manager)
Jay Amidon was present to review the project details. Work will be done after drawdown in the fall. The project was approved as submitted as a N2.
Fried/Greenwald – 6 Point Rd – RDA – install jetbat septic system (D. Dempsey is the project manager)
Chris Tryon of Berkshire Geo-Technologies was present to review the project details. The project was approved as submitted as a N3.
Hogan/Kraus – 30 Elephant Rock Rd – NOI - reconstruct existing dwelling, construct garage, parking area, dock, upgrade failed septic, drill new well and remove trees (C. Crane is the project manager)
Paula Hartstein, Jon Levin, Tom Ingersoll and Chris Tryon of Berkshire Geo-Technologies were present to review the project details. Paula and Jon have just purchased the home. The large canopy proposed to be removed was discussed. Comments from Natural Heritage have not yet been received. Abutters were present to state that they did not receive notification of the hearing and copies of the proof of mailings was not submitted by Berkshire Geo-Technologies. Berkshire Geo-Technologies will need to furnish the proof of notification to abutters and the hearing will be continued to May.
Weiss – 91 Beartown Mtn Rd – Amend OOC (D. Lynch is the project manager)
Chris Tryon of Berkshire Geo-Technologies and Peter & Roberta Weiss was present to review the project details and planting plan. They have hired a different builder and home style which prompted the request for an amended OOC. The amended project was approved.
Gelbard – 19 Limerock Lane – NOI – demo existing home, construct new home and septic (T. Lovett is the project manager)
Shannon Boomsma of White Engineering was present to review the proposal. Comments from Natural Heritage have not yet been received.
For Discussion:
- Mail was reviewed.
- Minutes from 3.21.17 were approved as written.
- Rich Lazar of Nature Works land care came in to have an informal discussion about 79 Hupi Rd. He will submit an RDA for the next meeting.
- Dominic gave an update on the Lake Garfield Working Group’s efforts and plans.
- David announced that he will be retiring from the Commission effective June 1, 2017 after 20 years.
- Dennis noted that he may also be leaving the Commission when his term expires to focus more on the grant writing for the town.
