CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Town of Monterey, Massachusetts
MEETING DATE: 7/9/13
Present: Richard Andrus, Timothy Lovett, Betty Pixley and David Dempsey
The meeting convened at 6:05p.m.
Hume – 73 Chestnut Hill Rd – NOI – seven foot drawdown of Stedman Pond for dam repairs & improvements and Hume – 73 Chestnut Hill Rd – SMA NOI – SMA13-02 (B. Pixley is the project manager)
Berkshire Geo-Technologies was present to request that these hearings be continued to the August 2013 meeting.
Logan – 8 Tin Can Point Rd – RDA - repair a falling stone wall within 100feet of Lake Buel (C. Blair is the project manager)
Dave Logan and Corey Ives were present to review the project details. Excavation will be done by hand. The Commission approved the project as a N3. Work will begin in September.
Heimann – 523 Main Rd – RDA - to reconstruct stairs that provide access to Lake Garfield and to rebuild the wood dock/platform that overlooks the lake (D. Dempsey is the project manager)
B. Pixley recused herself from this hearing. Chris Tryon of Berkshire Geo-Technologies was present to review the project details. There is an ongoing legal dispute regarding a property line and a the dock sitting on it. The Commission approved it as submitted as a N3 with the following condition: pending review by the Building Inspector of property line issue.
Miller – 59 Worth Lane – RDA – to construct a new single family home (T. Lovett is the project manager)
Rob Hoogs of Foresight Land Services was present to review the proposed project to replace the existing house with a new house in essentially the same footprint. The existing septic system will be maintained and upgraded with the permission of the Board of Health. The Commission approved the project as proposed as a N3.
Luxenberg – 19 Corashire Rd – remove 12” culvert & replace (R. Andrus is the project manager)
No one was present to present the project so this hearing was continued to the August meeting as the Commission had questions on the extent of the work to be done. Rick made a site visit and there are wetlands on both sides as well as a river.
For Discussion:
1. Mail was reviewed.
2. Minutes from 6.11.13 were approved as written.
3. Chris Tryon of Berkshire Geo-Technologies updated the Board on the Enforcement Order for Beartown Mountain Rd, this will be continued to next month.
