CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Town of Monterey, Massachusetts

Present: Timothy Lovett, David Dempsey, Christopher Blair and Betty Pixley
The meeting convened at 6:00p.m.
Hume – 73 Chestnut Hill Rd – NOI – seven foot drawdown of Stedman Pond for dam repairs & improvements (B. Pixley is the project manager)
Chris Tryon of Berkshire Geo-Technologies was present for this continued hearing. Chris is working with DEP and the Army Core of Engineers to get everyone on the same page. The hearing will be continued until January 2013.
Hartman – 37 Stevens Lake – RDA – add 2 additions to existing residence and to raise the level of portions of an existing dry stone terrace (T. Lovett is the project manager)
Robert Harrison, consultant for the Hartmans and Rob Ackroyd were present to make the presentation to the Commission. The project consists of expanding an existing addition in order to construct an elevator within the residence and to raise the level of an existing terrace. Construction of the project will begin in the spring. The Commission approved the project as submitted (N3).
Perelmuter – 14 Woodland Dr – RDA – remove existing stepped path and add a 12’ x 20’ deck (R. Andrus is the project manager)
Jonathan Keep, landscape designer for the Perelmuter’s was present to review the project. Types of materials and equipment to be used were discussed. Jonathan noted that there are phragmites present; the Commission noted that to treat them a filing would be necessary. The Commission approved the project as submitted as a N3.
National Grid – Old Beartown Rd – NOI – installation of electrical distribution line utility poles (5) along Old Beartown (C. Blair is the project manager)
Simon Hilt of Tighe & Bond was present to review the project for National Grid. It’s a pretty simple distribution pole project. There are currently 3 residences on Old Beartown Rd. There are 19 poles to be installed, 5 of which will be in the 100ft buffer zone and 3 of those within 50ft. Tim Lovett recused himself as his agency has the properties listed that are for sale there. They hope to start the project within the next few months. Maureen Haugh an abutter was present to ask questions about the project and how it will impact her property. The project was approved as submitted with no additional conditions.
For Discussion:
1. Mail was reviewed.
2. Minutes from 11.13.12 were approved as written.
3. Chris Tryon of Berkshire Geo-Technologies and representative for the cell tower site at 31 Main Rd presented a letter to the Commission informing them of the status of the project.
4. The Commission asked M. Noe to check on the status of the Salas and McGoff project and whether or not they still needed to update the Commission.
5. Chris Tryon of Berkshire Geo-Technologies was present to let the Commission know the he and Emily Stockman has been hired to deal with the Beartown Mtn Rd enforcement order that was issued to the Town. They will determine what was impacted and will present that to the Commission at the January meeting.
