Conservation Commission Minutes 6/12/12
CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Town of Monterey, Massachusetts
                                                                        
MEETING DATE: 6/12/12
Present: Richard Andrus, David Dempsey, Christopher Blair and Betty Pixley
The meeting convened at 6:05p.m.

Town of Monterey Greene Park – RDA – construct a basketball court (R. Andrus is the project manager)
Josh Allentuck, representative for the Town, Greg Carnese and David Quisenberry were present to review the project.  The 1/3 of the existing court will be removed and used for parking, there will be a grassy strip between there and the new court.  The only playground object that will need to be relocated is the carousel.  The project was approved as submitted as a N3.

Allentuck – 3 Tyringham Rd – RDA – build an enclosed screen porch off the back of the house (B. Pixley is the project manager)
Josh Allentuck was present to review the project.  Josh’s house is 130ft from the river and he is requesting to build an enclosed screened porch off the back of his existing house.  The Commission approved the project as submitted as a N5 per the following exemption: 10.02(2)(b)1e.

Mandelbaum – 519 Main Rd – Request for Certificate of Compliance DEP# 230-0236 (R. Andrus is the project manager)
The Commission reviewed a request submitted by Foresight Land Services to issue a Certificate of Compliance for 519 Main Rd.  The request was approved and a Certificate of Compliance was issued.

For Discussion:
1.  Mail was reviewed.
a.  The Commission approved renewing their annual membership to the MACC.
2.  Minutes from 5/8/12 were approved as written.
3.  Roland Dupuis of D3 Engineering, representative for Hume New England (formerly New England Keswick) came in to discuss the owner’s desire to improve the quality of the body of water onsite.  He wanted to use this time to informally discuss his options prior to submitting their NOI.  The Commission suggested speaking with Natural Heritage as well.
4.  The Commission discussed rumors about a logging operation to take place at 31 Main Rd with regards to the cell tower project.  This was not an approved part of the project from the Commission and does not fall under the Forestry guidelines.  C. Blair will draft a letter to be sent requesting that we be provided with more information.
