Conservation Commission Minutes 9/27/10
CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Town of Monterey, Massachusetts
                                                                        
INTERIM MEETING DATE: 9/27/10
Present: Richard Andrus, David Dempsey, and Christopher Blair
Also Present: Betty Pixley
The meeting convened at 6:05p.m.

Salas & McGoff – SMANOI – 11-03 – 47 Old Beartown Rd. – construction of a single family home, septic, driveway, well and assoc. utilities (D. Dempsey is the project manager)
Applicant’s name on the NOI was spelled incorrectly; it should be Salas not Saks.  Berkshire Engineering was present to present the project.  The Commission approved the project as submitted with the following conditions: 1.The applicant shall engage a Professional Engineer to act as a clerk of the works. The Engineer will coordinate work with the contractor and will inspect the site regularly whenever construction within jurisdictional area is in progress.~ The Engineer will immediately notify the Conservation Commission of any matter that requires attention by the Commission.~ The Engineer will maintain records of the activity and provide written reports to the Commission at critical construction junctures including but not limited to: pre-construction protections; site grubbing, driveway rough in, house site work/foundation, well construction, septic construction, post-construction clean-up.

2. Prior to the commencement of any activity on this site other than the placement of erosion control ~~marker stakes, the applicant shall arrange with the Commission to conduct a Pre-Activity Meeting between the applicant or the applicant’s representative, the persons or supervisor responsible for the work, the site contractor, and a member of the Conservation Commission.

Berkshire Engineering is going to have all contractors sign off that a copy of the OOC has been received.  The owners are hoping to be in the house by next summer.

For Discussion:
1.  The Commission met with Betty Pixley to discuss her interest in joining the Commission.  A recommendation will be made to the Select Board to appoint Betty for a 3 year term.  Betty is going to attend the Wetlands workshop in Pittsfield in the fall.
2.  The Commission discussed a recent project review request that was received.  The distance from the lake was not provided nor was the full extent of the project.
