MEETING MINUTES
MONTEREY BOARD OF ASSESSORS
TOWN HALL, MONTEREY
Saturday, May 27, ’06
Meeting called to order by Stan Ross. Bob Gauthier, Bob Lazzarini, Don Clawson and Linda Hamill were present. The meeting was solely devoted to the Richard Jaffe abatement request. The Assessors reviewed the several telephone and email exchanges between the Dept of Revenue and the Assessors concerning the definition of a “Dwelling Unit” to be used in classifying the Jaffe property. The Board agreed with the owner that the property was inappropriately classified as a LUC 109 (multiple dwelling) and it should be classified as a LUC 101 (single dwelling).
Don Clawson and Bob Gauthier reported on their inspection of the Jaffe home. They agreed with the owner that the grade of the house was “Excellet, A+, not AA, supreme. The Board unanimously approved their recommended change in grade. Thus the Jaffe request for tax abatement because of improper classification and grade assignment was granted.
