Superintendent: Craig W. Jalbert

Open the Meeting: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.
Customer Inquiry ~ Mr. Dix of 32 Main Street joined the meeting questioning what his sewer bill was based on, currently it is Sewer – MU2. It was explained that sewer units are based on the Assessors Classification, which in his case is a 2 family dwelling regardless if the second unit is occupied or not. The Commission explained he was within his right to go both the Building Department and Assessors Office to find out what modifications would need to take place to have the Assessors Classification changed. Mr. Dix also commented that he finds the water quality less than favorable since last summer, Craig explained that since May of 2011 low levels of chlorine has been added as a preventative maintenance measure to avoid any possible issues that could result from warm temperatures and low
water demand like we experience last summer and that the Commission voted to continue chlorination on a preventative maintenance basis until October 2012 especially with all the rebuilding and new service activity going on, the use of a Britta filter was mentioned.
Accept the Minutes: A motion was made by Joe to except the November 16, 2011 meeting minutes. Motion seconded by Steve. Motion passed unanimously.
OLD/NEW BUSINESS
Department Activity~
Discuss / Updates regarding Tornado Damage ~ The service to 17 Washington was replaced, the curb stop to 7 Washington was replaced when it would not shut off in preparation for the demolition. Water and Sewer installations are scheduled for 22 Stewart (Phipps) Friday and 15 Bethany (Lin Zhao Xing) the following week. When requested to shut the service off at 87 Main Street (Ragalski), it was determined the curb stop needs to be redone due to poor quality materials used when the service was replaced in 1992.
Tow Behind Generator Specifications ~ Craig has contacted different companies who sell and rent equipment to receive feedback on quality and obtain equipment cut sheets for comparison purposes.
Replacement Computers ~ Computers from CMD Technology have not yet come in, Craig’s computer was extremely slow today causing further distress for the need of backup services.
Water Line Repairs ~ A water leak was discovered at a bank owned property at 15 Bridge Street. The decision was made to shut the water service off at 62 Palmer Road to avoid possible damages on a property, the owner is deceased and there is no known contact information.
New Construction ~ The second Group Home off of Whitney Avenue, required two water taps as part of the deal with the corner Main Street Lot 6 (Nate Olsen), as the plan is to run gas over the line. Two sewer taps are planned for tomorrow.
