OLD/NEW BUSINESS:

Department Activity ~
Updates Regarding Tornado Damage ~ The Water & Sewer Department (MW&S Dept.) roof is still in need of repair.
Work at the Police Department temp trailer was finished last Tuesday, the ultra low flow toilets were changed out to pressure assisted toilets and they are now working fine.
The MW&S Dept. continues to handle things as they come, DIG Safes, shut offs, trailers, capping lines etc.  Three services will be capped this week, we are working to catch up to accounts off verifying who is capped and not, house demo’s continuing.
Tank Inspection proposals have been received, we are waiting to hear from the insurance company as to whom the contractor will be working for; us or the insurance company.
Paradise Lake Cross Country Sewer Easement is completely cleared.  Craig walked the area last Monday, no structural damage was evident.  Yesterday the fallen trees on the State Street/Chestnut Street Easement were cleared on the ball field side.
16 Bethany Road is supposedly being rebuilt in 2-3 weeks by the Disaster Man reality television show.

Billing ~ Bills were mailed out today.  Billed usage for water was down from what was projected.

Water Line Repairs ~ There is a lot of required documentation on the cutting and capping of services as it continues, new measurements and drawings are done for each, Tom continues to keep daily notes.  The service at 22 Washington Street was discovered leaking on 7/16 and was replaced from the main to the curb stop.  It appears to have been leaking for a long time before bubbling up.

Road Projects ~Water and sewer taps are installed and stubbed to the property line for 64 and 66 Bethany Road between Chestnut and Brimfield Road.  We are waiting to hear back on the timing from the landowner of 62 Bethany, who has pulled the permit.
Margaret Street is marked out.  Craig has received the Roadway Reconstruction prints from Sherman and Frydryk.   Every service will require a curb stop to be installed at the property line.  There is also a 60 foot section of 1” iron pipe that will to be replaced.  Craig would love to have time to install a new water main on the street, however John did not include it in the plan.  The MW&S Dept. will do its best to evaluate potential problems with the existing water line and address them in preparation for the Margaret Street reconstruction project.

W&S Personnel ~ Jan DeMaio started Monday, he has been signed up for Fall classes and is expected to test by November-December.  In the meantime Tom will cover weekends.  Randy worked with the MW&S Dept. last Tuesday.  The Commission agreed it would be beneficial to our Department for Randy to retain his water licenses.  In the event that Tom or Craig was hurt and could not work Randy’s help would be invaluable and cost effective.  Steve made a motion that the W&SD continue paying for Randy Emerson’s Drinking Water license renewals and requisite training classes.  Motion was seconded by Joe.  Motion passed unanimously.

NEXT MEETING:  The next meeting has been set for Tuesday, August 16th at 6:30 p.m.

ADJOURN:  A motion was made by Steve and seconded by Joe to adjourn at 7:05p.m. from open session to go into executive session.  Motion passed unanimously.
