Superintendent:  Craig W. Jalbert
Secretary:  Dale Barnes-Johnson
Open the Meeting:  The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Accept the Minutes:  A motion was made by Joe and seconded by Doug to accept the April 29, 2009 and May 27, 2009 meeting minutes.  Motion passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS:
S.R.F. Project ~ Tank Rehab ~ Bid advertising for the tank rehab project is expected shortly with the bid opening following in 3 weeks.  Work can commence anytime from now until September/October depending on weather.  Good news is the project qualifies for Stimulus Funds which will equal $40,000 in savings with the potential for more if other projects drop off the list.
New tank ~ Craig is pleased with the site work and modified and drainage.
Bethany Road ~ No luck with flow pacing issue, technician was out on 6/9/09 but the problem remains.  LSC was out today addressing the last remaining programming issues.  They also checked the flow pacing signal from the PLC which was verified to be as it should be, eliminating programming as the problem.  The electrician came out to check the chemical feed pump power circuit, which is also as it should be.  He decided the heater elements in the overload protection device will be replaced.  The electrician thinks they may be defective, new ones have been ordered.

Palmer Road Well Pumping Capacity ~ Pumping is not dropping off as quickly, it has been slightly over 2 months now and it has only dropped about 5 gallons per minute.  Discussion took place with regards to Goulds standing behind their pump which was noticeably off the design curve from the pump test.  In hindsight it is unfortunate they didn’t come out to address the problem back when we first noticed it.  Doug suggested switching to a submersible pump set up considering the issues with the well seal and out of plumb casing.  Craig will wait to here back from Peter Maher.

Sewer Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) Remediation ~ Conservation Commission will require a Notice of Intent (N.O.I.) for clearing of the easement near the car wash and under the Mass Highway overpass.  In addition to cutting it is possible some gravel may have to be added to allow access.  Don Frydryk from Sherman & Frydryk will be preparing the N.O.I. in addition to doing the surveying and filing, cost will be approximately $4,500.  Craig is looking at a timeframe of fall or November to start work.  The Hospital Road pump station flows for June have not been reviewed yet.

Community Development Block Grant – PVPC (Park Avenue) ~ It looks like this project will be moving forward due to the Stimulus money.  The project will entail new concrete sidewalks, drainage, 8” ductile iron water main, new services and hydrants.

NEW BUSINESS:
Tom ~ Assistant Superintendent Tom Murphy dislocated his shoulder while on vacation.  He expects to return July 6.  Randy will begin meter reading Thursday.  Craig has decided to take Mark Gallagher up on his summer help offer and ask for 2 students.

Roof Repairs ~ D.P. Carney made some needed roof repairs to the Water & Sewer Department building to prevent leaks, they also installed ice cleats above the shop access door.

NEXT MEETING:  The next meeting has been set for Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.

ADJOURN:  At 7:05 p.m., a motion was made by Steve and seconded by Doug to adjourn from open session to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing pending negotiations and not to return to open session.  Motion passes unanimously.
