Minutes of September 10, 2013 Meeting
Members In attendance: Valarie Beaudoin, Leona Brahen, Bill Dominick and Leslie Duthie
Absent: Nicholas Beaudoin and Victoria Prior
The minutes of the August 13, 2013 meeting were reviewed and changes were noted. After motion duly made by Ms. Duthie and seconded by Mr. Dominick, the minutes, as revised, were approved.
Discussion of Fall Plantings
Ms. Brahen presented a spreadsheet which was reviewed by the Committee. Ms. Brahen agreed to update the spreadsheet for use at the upcoming plantings. Logistics for the September planting were discussed, including the logistics for the Friday offloading. Volunteers were discussed and Mr. Dominick agreed to secure coffee service from Dunkin Donuts. Ms. Brahen agreed to handle the private homeowner pickup at the end of the month and indicated that she had secured the assistance of Ms. Martha Prybylo to help out. Potential spring plantings were also discussed.
Donation of Spruce Trees
Ms. Beaudoin reviewed a recent email offering spruce trees for donation. Ms. Beaudoin agreed to respond to the email and to also pass along the information to homeowners who had indicated an interest in spruce trees in the past.
Discussion of Big MAC Participation
After discussion by the Committee, it was decided that the Committee would not participate in Big MAC this year.
The Committee then turned to discussion of making an Arbor Day event the focus of our spring planting. Further discussion of this issue will continue at future meetings.
Ms. Beaudoin then indicated that Mr. Beaudoin had a conflict with the Committee’s Tuesday meetings. The Committee discussed this issue and it was decided that, pending the availability of Ms. Prior, the Committee would move its meetings to the second Monday of each month. It was also decided that the Committee would move the next meeting to Monday, October 7, 2013. The Committee also voted to take a hiatus until February of 2014. The next meeting of the Committee would be held on February 10, 2014.
There being no further business and after motion duly made and seconded, the meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
