Discussion of Becoming 501(c)(3) Organization
Ms. Prybylo asked a general question regarding 501(c)(3) organization status and Ms. Bodwell explained the rationale of general 501(c)(3) status for the town. After motion made by Ms. Staples and seconded by Mr. Bressard, further discussion of this item was tabled until the next meeting.
Partnering with Monson Memorial Classic
The Committee received a report on the Monson Memorial Classic by Ms. Gustafson. Ms. Gustafson provided background on the history of the Classic. The intention is to make a donation to the Committee from part of the proceeds of the fun walk portion of the Classic. Ms. Staples asked in what capacity the Committee could be of assistance. Ms. Gustafson asked for volunteers to help out along the route as well as seeking participation by members at the Walk. It was decided that information on contacts for participation would be provided to the Committee and members were referred to the website for sign up for the fun walk.
Discussion of Future Fundraising Events
Ms. Prybylo began the discussion with a review of several ideas. After lengthy discussion, it was decided that the Committee would gather information on various holiday ideas, including the sale of tabletop trees and the decoration of trees along Main Street, and report back to the Committee at the next meeting. Mr. Brassard also suggested a Gala Event for after the holidays. The Committee felt that this was a good idea and this will also be pursued at a future meeting of the Committee. Ms. Duthie confirmed that the Committee will have a booth at Big Mac on November 26-27, 2011.
Ms. Staples then shared information on a website that had been sent to her and advised that the information has been forwarded to Ms. Vacon for use as a benchmark for the Committee’s website. Mr. Vacon shared the Lion’s Club website and this information will be sent to Ms. Vacon as well.
The Committee next spent several minutes discussing the replanting event on October 15, 2011. The general consensus was that the event was a huge success, but suggestions were discussed regarding improvements that can make future events better.
After motion duly made and seconded, the meeting adjourned at 7:56 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
