Minutes of the Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting

Present: Steve O’Shea (Chairman), Michael Arbour
Also Present: Jeannie Guertin, Secretary/Clerk
Steve O’Shea called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Possible projects that could be proposed for Community Preservation Act funds were discussed. The Commissioners would like to see if parcels of land could be purchased and set aside for the development of more fields, rather than building on the land. There is a lot across from the Jean Porwoll property that is deemed Open Space. Recreational use may be a part of an Open Space plan.
Tim left updates on current projects in his absence (attached), including the statuses of projects being funded by the $500,000 state grant.
Jeannie updated the Commissioners on the recreational soccer program and the summer programs that were coming to a close on August 17.
Mike Arbour made a motion to accept the minutes of the July 19 meeting. Steve O’Shea seconded; all in favor and the motion passed.
The next meeting will be held September 12. Jeannie will check with Steve Slozak to see if this date works for him.
Steve O’Shea made a motion to adjourn at 7:18 p.m., and Mike Arbour seconded. All in favor; meeting adjourned.
