MONSON FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES                                                         NOVEMBER 8, 2010

Present:        Peter Fimognari, Jim Pennington, Bob Finnegan, Bob Margerison, Maureen O’Sullivan,
 Brenda Payette (Administrative Assistant)
Absent: Gerry Brayton, Christine Edwards, William Dominguez

The meeting was convened at 6:55pm

A motion was made to accept the minutes of the 9-27-2010 meeting as written; it was SECONDED and SO VOTED.

CORRESPONDENCE:
  • Association of Town Finance Committees order form.
  • Ms. Payette will order nine CD copies of 2010 Finance Committee Handbook.
  • The Beacon Newsletter 2010
  • Municipal Advocate
  • Expenditure Ledger printed 10/6/2010
  • Town of Monson-Certification of Appropriations from Town Meeting October 18, 2010.
MEETINGS ATTENDED BY MEMBERS:
  • Ms. O’Sullivan attended Division of Health Insurance meeting-
  • How employers are affected by the MA laws on Health Insurance.
OLD BUSINESS / NEW BUSINESS:
Budget Process Discussion:
Finance Committee discussed what they wanted to ask the Department Heads regarding budgets they submit in addition to those submitted to Ms. Mahar.
Mr. Pennington suggested a starting point be:
A request to the Department Heads for a budget showing a 10% reduction to the FY11 final budget. Also, if they could identify what services they would no longer be able to provide.  Mr. Pennington said he did not need narratives as requested last year.

A motion was made to have Ms. Payette send a letter to the Department Heads requesting a budget showing a 10% reduction to the FY11 final budget and if they could identify what services they would no longer be able to provide; it was SECONDED and SO VOTED.

The next scheduled meeting of the Finance Committee is:
Monday, December 6, 2010 at 6:45pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:05pm.
