MONSON FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES JANUARY 25, 2010
Present: Peter Fimognari, Gerry Brayton, Jim Pennington, Christine Edwards, Bob Margerison, Brenda Payette (Administrative Assistant)
Absent: Bob Finnegan, Maureen O’Sullivan, William Dominquez
Also Present: Deb Mahar (Finance Director)
The meeting was convened at 7:00pm
CORRESPONDENCE:
- Request from Highway Department for the expenditure of funds in excess of available appropriations in the amount of $100,000.00, for snow and ice removal.
- A motion was made to allow the Highway Department to deficit spend $100,000.00 and add it to snow and ice removal; it was Seconded and SO VOTED.
- Town of Monson FY 2011 Projections Preliminary Numbers spreadsheet handed out by Ms. Mahar.
- Letter from Governor Deval Patrick dated January 22, 2010.
- Ms. Payette handed out the DRAFT letter to the Board of Selectmen from FinCom for review. Changes were made and a motion was made to send the revised draft letter to the Board of Selectmen; it was seconded and SO VOTED.

OLD BUSINESS / NEW BUSINESS:
Discussion regarding budgets:
Ms. Mahar gave FinCom an update regarding the budget process:
- She said she will know better by the second week of February about the health insurance increase.
- Ms. Mahar handed out a FY2011 projections spreadsheet with preliminary numbers, she reviewed this with FinCom.
Ms. Payette handed out additional hard copies of department budgets that she received since the last FinCom meeting.
FinCom members started to review department budgets. It was discussed that each member of the committee submit what they feel are the necessary services needed to keep the town running and safe, and as a committee come to a consensus.
Ms. Edward asked what was FinCom’s goal and Mr. Fimognari answered to submit a balanced budget to the town.
The next scheduled meetings of the Finance Committee are:
