MONSON FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES JANUARY 11, 2010
Present: Gerry Brayton, Peter Fimognari, Bob Finnegan, Bob Margerison, Maureen O'Sullivan, William Dominquez, Brenda Payette (Administrative Assistant)
Absent: Jim Pennington, Christine Edwards
Also Present: Deb Mahar (Finance Director), Gretchen Neggers (Town Administrator)
The meeting was convened at 6:45pm
A motion was made to accept the minutes of the 11/9/09 meeting as written; it was seconded and SO VOTED.

OLD BUSINESS / NEW BUSINESS:
Discussion regarding budgets:
Ms. Neggers and Ms. Mahar gave FinCom an update regarding the budget process:
- She said she is still compiling information.
- The pension figure is slightly down from last year due to reduction in staff hours.
- Concerned regarding State Aid
- Pathfinder enrollment is up. This will impact the town.
- Free cash is down $177,000.00
- Mr. Fimognari asked Ms. Mahar if she did any projections yet? Ms Mahar said that she has only done preliminary projections so far.
- Mr. Fimognari remarked to FinCom that information is still be compiled and this is the beginning of the budget process.
- Ms. Neggers stated that the Selectmen are not planning on discussing the budget until they meet on January 26, 2010.
Ms. Payette handed out hard copies of department budgets. She informed FinCom that she will bring additional budgets she receives so they can add to what they have.
FinCom will review the budget information and discuss in the coming weeks.
Discussion regarding School Department and Pathfinder budgets:
Even though it is early and they might not have a budget put together yet. FinCom is going to ask for a school transportation budget and preliminary numbers from Pathfinder. Ms. Payette will send the request to the School Department and Pathfinder.
Ms. Neggers discussed with FinCom that she is planning on presenting to the Selectmen a Maintenance Department plan. She noted that is work in progress. This is mission driven not budget driven.

Monday, January 25, 2010 at 6:45pm
Monday, February 1, 2010 at 6:45pm
