Monson Cemetery Commission
Thursday, May 5, 2011
The monthly meeting of the Cemetery Commission opened at 6:03pm in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road. Commissioners present were: Jim Duggan, Jim Metzger; new Commissioner George Courtemanche called in earlier that day to say he hurt himself and cannot attend meeting. Also present was Paul Lovell, Superintendent and Bob Haveles from Architecture Insights. Minutes of the April 7, 2011 meeting were read and accepted.
OLD BUSINESS:
Bob Haveles discussed the plans and drawings being created that will be used for the Town Meeting on the request for the CPA funds on the wall at Hillside Cemetery. Also discussed the many other issues that may arise if the project is approved, where added costs may come from, like a police detail for traffic working near the road. Also suggested a meeting or meetings with the Historic Commission to coordinate the project as they may also receive funding for the walls. Will work on more details after we get approval and we move forward on same.
NEW BUSINESS:
Paul brought up being notified of a potential cut in our budget for next fiscal year of $2,500.00 from our salary account. If this is approved we will decide where to cut it from the budget.
Paul received a request from a person who would like to install a wooden bench at the cemetery and will maintain it. After discussion the Commission voted not to allow this to occur for reasons of ecstatic and maintenance over the long run.
Discussed getting a small plaque with the years of service on it for Al Wilcox that the Commission would pay for, but after further discussion and the declining health of Al we decided not to proceed with this.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:20pm
Next meeting is Thursday, June 2, 2011, at 6pm.
Respectfully Submitted
James Duggan, Chairman/Clerk
