Meeting of 2010-09/02
Monson Cemetery Commission
Thursday, September 2, 2010

The monthly meeting of the Cemetery Commission opened at 6:00pm in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road. Commissioners present were: Jim Duggan and Jim Metzger.  Also present was Paul Lovell, Superintendent. Minutes of the August 5, 2010 meeting were read and approved as presented.

OLD BUSINESS:

Discussion on the situation with the grave/lots and what transpired to remedy the situation. The person buried in the single grave will be moved to a double lot in another section. Everyone involved was satisfied. All deeds and transfers are in process and should be completed soon.
CPA application and copies of the attached letter to CPC were read and discussed. We are applying for money to have the walls at Hillside Cemetery worked on and repaired.
Again, discussed the Bethany Cemetery situation and the boundary lines. Pine Street can’t afford to have it surveyed so; we will look into the cost to have the Cemetery surveyed so we can put this to rest. Further discussion will follow.
NEW BUSINESS:

Paul brought up the drain at Hillside Cemetery and how it is not working properly. This drain is across the street from the entrance to the Middle School for reference as to where it is. Paul and Jan will fix the drain with new PVC pipe that would go from the drain under the road and wall to the drain on Thompson Street. The early estimated cost would be approximately $600.00.  Paul has contacted Hub and he is willing to assist us in any way.
Paul explained the request from Kathy Farnsworth. She had purchased a four grave lot in a flush (flat) marker section (she paid for late – letter was sent to her and she since has paid in full). She now wants to put up a monument there which does not conform to our guidelines and sections. She knew this when she purchased the lots and will be given the option to move her mother who is buried there to a section that is a monument section not far from this spot. The Commission voted to give her the option, and if she chooses not to do this then she can only put in a flat marker.
Commission signed bills and deed/lot papers.

                Meeting was adjourned at 7:25pm

Next meeting is Thursday, October 7, 2010, at 6pm.

Respectfully Submitted,

James Duggan, Chairman/Clerk
