Monson Cemetery Commission
Thursday, April 1, 2010
The monthly meeting of the Cemetery Commission opened at 6:35pm in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road. Commissioners present were: Jim Duggan and Shawn Connery. Also present was Paul Lovell, Superintendent. Minutes of the March 4, 2010 meeting were read and approved as presented.
OLD BUSINESS:
The surveys that went out and were returned are being processed and will be put together in some type of format and presented at a future meeting.
The software program for the cemetery, along with a computerized mapping system which would include Hillcrest and part of Hillside cemeteries; is still being investigated. We have received ball park prices from Pontem which is the company that the cemetery had purchase software from somewhere around 1995 or earlier. They can use the information on this program which Gaylyn is still using and transfer it to the new software package if we choose to go ahead with this project.
NEW BUSINESS:
The wall, which is not new business but the contents of this discussion are. The repairs to the wall that was classed as an emergency, from Monaco Restorations and had an original price tag of $8,400.00, has become more of an issue. While taking this section down, they discovered that more of the wall would need to come down to have this section become more secure and fix the problem – this is at an additional cost of $3,300.00. After further discussion on this, and the immediate need to have this done approval was granted for the additional 7-8 feet at an additional amount listed above for a total cost of $11,700.00. Paul was instructed to have a transfer done from perpetual care account to have this done as an “emergency repair”.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm
Next meeting is Thursday May 6, 2010 at 6pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
James Duggan, Clerk
