Meeting of 2010-02/04
Monson Cemetery Commission
Thursday, February 4, 2010

The monthly meeting of the Cemetery Commission opened at 6:10pm in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road. Commissioners present were: Jim Duggan and Chairman Shawn Connery.  Also present was Paul Lovell, Superintendent. Minutes of the     January 7, 2010 meeting were read and approved as presented.

OLD BUSINESS:

Discussion of the lights on the outside of the building. They were ordered and Dave will install them as they come in.

NEW BUSINESS:

Paul handed out the “draft” that Tim Pascale had been working on as far as grounds, who is responsible and other information related to the grounds maintenance issue that was discussed at our last meeting with the Town Administrator.  It seems a rough draft with no specifics and we are not sure of what it all means as it didn’t come with an explanation, other than Paul says that it will be presented to the Selectmen at one of their future meetings. Not sure what meeting but when Paul finds this out he will contact the Commission so we could attend.

Paul also handed out the letter that he sent to the Finance Committee and Town Accountant on budget cuts and what affects it would have on our department if we were cut any further.

Jim explained he is still working on the grant application for Norcross on the tree removal / replacement at Hillside and Hillcrest Cemeteries. He is also working on contacting a company located in Union CT to come out and look at the stone walls at Hillside Cemetery and give us a write up or estimate on repair work required, so we can apply to the Community Preservation Committee for funding on the repairs. He has also contacted several companies and is obtaining information on computerized mapping systems. Lastly he is still working on creating a survey to send to other communities around the area.

                Meeting was adjourned at 7:15pm

Next meeting is Thursday March 4, 2010 at 6pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
James Duggan, Clerk
