Meeting of 2007-08/02
MONSON CEMETERY COMMISSION
Thursday, August 2, 2007

The regular meeting of the Monson Cemetery Commissioners convened at 3:30 p.m. in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road.  In attendance were Albert Wilcox, David Martin, Paul Lovell and William Plante.  Sean Connery was not present.

The meeting of July 5, 2007 was not held due to a quorum not being met.  Mr. Wilcox made a motion to accept the minutes of June 7, 2007 as written.  Mr. Martin seconded the motion.

There wasn’t any old business to be discussed at this time.

NEW BUSINESS:

1:  Equipment report:  Mr. Lovell reported to the commissioners that the Exmark rider
had to be taken to the dealer for servicing.  Expected return to service date of August
     3, 2007.

2:  Clerks Position:  Mr. Lovell reported applicants are still responding to the ad posted
in the newspaper.  Mr. Martin requested a meeting to be held as soon as possible to
review the candidate’s applications and fill the Clerks position.  The deadline for
applications is August 09, 2007.  A meeting is scheduled for August 09, 2007,
    at 3:30 p.m.

3:  Interdepartmental Grounds Maintenance:  Pursuant to a request made by the Long
Range Financial Planning Committee and the Monson Board of Selectmen, Mr.
Wilcox thought it would be prudent to meet with the Commissioner of the Parks and
Recreation Department.  After discussion it was decided to schedule a meeting for
August 23, 2007, at the Monson Fire department.

4:  Seasonal Labor:  Mr. Lovell reported he has been approached by a gentleman who is
involved in the Senior Aides Employment Program.  This program, funded under
Title V of the Older Americans Act as well as state and local grants helps low income
individuals, age 55 and older, throughout the United States.  Upon explanation of the
program, both Mr. Wilcox and Mr. Martin approved the employment of Mr. Carl
Perrot.  Mr. Perrot will be able to work for twenty hours per week at no cost to the
     Cemetery Department.

Mr. Lovell reported he has intentions to hire a seasonal laborer and requested a
starting salary.  After discussion Mr. Martin made a motion to start the laborer
at $9.00 per hour.  Mr. Wilcox seconded the motion.

Mr. Martin requested that Mr. Lovell check into the hours of work and
eligibility requirements of keeping pension receiving seasonal laborers
over the sixteen-week period mandated for seasonal help.

Mr. Wilcox made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:25p.m.  Mr. Martin
seconded the motion.
