Meeting of 2006-06/02
MONSON CEMETERY COMMISSION
FRIDAY, JUNE 2, 2006

The regular meeting of the Monson Cemetery Commissioners convened at 10:00 a.m. in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road. In attendance were Albert T. Wilcox, Robert E. Pease, Paul B. Lovell and Gaylin G. Bingle. David F. Martin III was not present.

Mr. Pease made a motion to accept the meeting minutes of May 5, 2006. Mr. Wilcox seconded the motion.

OLD BUSINESS:

1.      Roof on Building at Hillcrest – Mr. Pease stated that Brian Mushenko assured him the angle iron would be installed on the roof of the building at Hillcrest Cemetery prior to this winter to keep the snow from sliding off.

2.      Full-time Labor Position – Paul said he hasn’t heard anything yet as to a meeting with the Board of Selectmen. Mr. Pease said he would like to post the position now. Paul said he would speak with Gretchen next week when she returned from her vacation.

3.      Transfer of Funds – Paul said the $2,000.00 transfer was made from the salary account into the expense account. Paul purchased two new gas trimmers and added he has enough funds left over to purchase new blades.

NEW BUSINESS:

1.      Tree in Hillside – Paul said there is a tree just inside the archway at Hillside that has split by a large limb and noted it is extremely dangerous. Paul has received a price of $850.00 to have this tree taken down. Paul also said the Finance Committee is allocating the Cemetery Department money in the new fiscal budget for tree removal, but this tree can not wait that long, as someone could get seriously injured or monuments damaged if this limb should fall. The Commissioners agreed to have Paul take this tree down right away, or to at least remove the limb and then remove the tree later, and to make a transfer of funds from the Gifts and Bequest account if needed.

2.      New Mower – Paul said he would like to purchase a second riding lawnmower in July and that a transfer would probably be needed to cover a portion of the cost as this would be somewhere between $6,000.00 and $8,000.00.

Mr. Pease made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Wilcox seconded the motion.

Respectfully Submitted,
Gaylin Bingle, Recording Secretary
