MONSON CEMETERY COMMISSION
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2006
The regular meeting of the Monson Cemetery Commissioners convened at 10:00 a.m. in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road. In attendance were Albert T. Wilcox, Robert E. Pease, Paul B. Lovell and Gaylin G. Bingle. Julian E. Szarlan was not present.
Mr. Pease made a motion to accept the meeting minutes of January 6, 2006. Mr. Wilcox seconded the motion.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Transmission in Truck – Paul said he hasn’t felt the hesitation in the transmission since the last meeting so he hasn’t brought the truck in to have it repaired. If he does feel it again, he will bring the truck in to have it repaired.
2. Cable – Comcast has installed the cable to the building and Paul is now able to watch the weather. Paul was waiting prior to disconnecting the extra telephone line to see if DSL, or anything that required a telephone line, was going to be used. Paul explained going with Comcast would cost approximately $60.00 per month which is only $10.00 more per month then we are currently paying for the second line, not to mention the cost of the dial-up service which is at least another $9.95 on top of that. It was explained with dial-up, the office was getting booted off line all the time, making anything being done, or attempted to be done, very time
consuming and annoying. Mr. Pease said we would be better off with Comcast from the cable company as this would be cheaper then having the separate line we currently have. Paul said because the town has a contract with CTC we are unable to go with Verizon’s DSL. Mr. Pease made a motion to go with Comcast. Mr. Wilcox seconded the motion.
3. Roof on Building at Hillcrest – Mr. Pease did contact Brian Mushenko regarding the snow sliding off the roof of the building and Mr. Mushenko did stop at the building. Mr. Mushenko said angle iron could be placed on the roof attaching it to the trusses and suggested placing two 12’ angles over the door. Mr. Mushenko explained there is special stuff made for the roof and that he will get prices on it.
4. New Commissioner –Paul announced Dave Martin, who is an EMT and full-time employee with the Water Department, has taken out nomination papers for the vacant Cemetery Commissioner position. Mr. Pease and Mr. Wilcox agreed they did not want to change the meeting times from daytime to evenings. Paul said he would like to see someone elected who would be able to attend evening town meetings, especially the meetings with the Finance Committee.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Donation to Office – Mr. Wilcox said he spoke with Leanne Hasenjager who would like to donate something of her father’s to the office as Mr. Hasenjager was a Cemetery Commissioner for many years. Mr. Wilcox will check this out to see if there is possibly a picture or something we might be able to use.
Mr. Pease made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 11:05 a.m. Mr. Wilcox seconded the motion.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gaylin Bingle
