CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS MEETING OF JULY 2, 2004

PRESENT: Robert E. Pease, Julian E. Szarlan, Paul B. Lovell, John R. Nothe and Gaylin Bingle. Albert Wilcox was not present.

Mr. Pease called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the clerk and accepted with a motion by Mr. Szarlan and seconded by Mr. Pease.

OLD BUSINESS:

New Computer – It was agreed Mr. Pease would look at the specs for the new computer before it is purchased.

Tree Stump – While the Highway backhoe was in the cemetery digging a grave, John had them pluck the tree stump. They were able to remove the stump and all of the roots with no problems.

NEW BUSINESS:

Battery – Paul purchased a new battery for the pick-up truck for $69.95 from Interstate Batteries, as he was starting to have problems with the old battery.

Commissioners Meetings – Mr. Pease said according to the Open Meeting Law, the meetings are suppose to start at the time posted downtown and in the newspapers, which is 9:00 a.m. It was agreed to have the time changed to 8:30 am.

Hedge Trimmers – Paul purchased one new pair of hedge trimmers for $69.97 from Home Depot and would like to purchase another pair if these work out well. They also have a pole type of hedge trimmer for $99.99 which would reach the tops of the shrubs. This would eliminate the use of a ladder that someone must hold for safety purposes as the ground is not level. Mr. Pease made a motion for Paul to purchase the hedge trimmer on a pole. Mr. Szarlan seconded.

Chain Saw on a Pole – Paul said he would like to get a price on a chain saw on a pole as well as there are a lot of branches that need trimming. The Commissioners agreed Paul could check into this and to bring the information back to the next Commissioners meeting.

Mr. Szarlan made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 a.m. Mr. Pease seconded the motion.

Respectfully Submitted,

Gaylin Bingle
