CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 5, 2003
PRESENT: Robert E. Pease, Julian E. Szarlan, Paul B. Lovell, John R. Nothe and Gaylin Bingle.
Al Wilcox also attended this meeting.
Mr. Pease called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the clerk and accepted with a motion by Mr. Pease and seconded by Mr. Szarlan.
OLD BUSINESS:
Up-Date on Seasonal Help – Paul said the man hired from the temp. agency is gone as are the two summer youths. Paul hired Donald Perusse, who has finished doing his community time, for $8.00 per hour for twenty-five hours a week, five hours a day for five days per week, through leaf season. Paul said he will keep the temp agency for future use, as they were very good about letting their man go and not replacing him. The two summer youth boys painted three fences at Bennett Road, Stafford Road and North Main Street Cemeteries and straightened out some of the stones in North Main.
NEW BUSINESS:
Monuments in Hillside – While Paul was on vacation, John noticed someone in the cemetery. Some of the stones were broken and someone tried to set them up by just stacking them on top of each other without using the epoxy to hold them together. Paul and John reset them using the epoxy.
Truck Repairs – Paul went for an inspection sticker on the truck and found the ball joints were going. The truck will be dropped off on Monday for this and new brakes on the rear. Paul wasn’t sure just how much this was going to cost. Mr. Pease questioned the condition of the tires. Paul said the front tires are iffy and might need replacement before winter.
Mr. Pease made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 a.m. Mr. Szarlan seconded the motion.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gaylin Bingle
