CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS MEETING OF AUGUST 1, 2003
PRESENT: Herman E. Hasenjager, Robert E. Pease, Julian E. Szarlan, Paul B. Lovell, John R. Nothe and Gaylin Bingle.
Al Wilcox was also present for this meeting.
Mr. Hasenjager called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The minutes were read by the clerk and accepted with a motion by Mr. Pease and seconded by Mr. Szarlan.
OLD BUSINESS:
Seasonal Help – Paul did go to a temp. agency two weeks ago. The man they sent to work in the cemeteries is slow in getting the sections assigned to him done and has difficulty with mowers. Paul has called the temp agency and told them today will be this man’s last day. Paul has gotten a man serving 96 hours of community time. Paul would like to hire this man ass a seasonal laborer for 25 hours per week (5 hours per day) when he is done serving his community time, which will be on August 11th. The Commissioners agreed to hire this man offering him $8.00 per hour ($8.50 if he hesitates and $9.00 if we absolutely have to). Mr. Szarlan suggested Paul call the court to see if they might possibly have someone else needing to serve community time they could send to help
out.
Wall On Mill Street – Paul said he and John had the time, after hiring the man from the temp agency, the two Youth Enrichment Program kids and the one doing community service, to replace the blocks in the wall.
Computer – After receiving the computer back from the first repair, it broke down and again needed to be sent back to Post Computer for repair. They found the sound card was gone and replaced this for $50.00 total, parts and labor.
Summer Help – Paul has the two boys from the Youth Enrichment Program scraping and painting the fence at North Main Street Cemetery. The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission who oversees this program is supplying all the paint and brushes. Mr. Hasenjager said he is proud of the work done in the cemeteries and that they look nice.
There wasn’t any new business discussed at this meeting.
Mr. Pease made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 a.m. Mr. Szarlan seconded the motion.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gaylin Bingle
