Meeting of 2002-06/07
CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS MEETING OF JUNE 7, 2002

PRESEEENT:  Robert E. Pease, Julian E. Szarlan, Paul B. Lovell, John R. Nothe and Gaylin Bingle. Herman E. Hasenjager was absent from this meeting.

Al Wilcox was present for this meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:

Bench from Country Memorials – John said the color of the bench is called “Imperial Pink” and cost $1,000.00.

Seasonal Help – Ronnie was all done as of Memorial Day. Paul hired Derek Beynor at $7.50 per hour for 25 hours a week.

Copier – Paul purchased a reconditioned, used industrial copier from the Document Center on State Street in Springfield for $500.00. It came with a new ink cartridge and a 30-day warranty.

NEW BUSINESS:

Transfer – The Commissioners signed a transfer for the sum of $2,624.81 that was needed to pay for the seasonal help to June 30, 2002, the end of this fiscal year.

Town Web Site – Gaylin typed up information for the new web site the town has set up at www.Monsonmass.com. Mr. Pease said it would be nice to list the Commissioners and employees stating how lone they have been with the Cemetery Department and to maybe put some pictures on the site as well. Mr. Pease agreed to come in to help Gaylin with this.

Tree Removal – Paul had a tree removed from Hillside that had been damaged in a recent storm. Dennis Gunther came in Monday to cut the tree down and remove the stump for $375.00. John Nothe donated a Flowering Cherry tree to go in this spot, as it is located near his grandfather Lemon’s Lot. The tree will grow to a height of 25 feet and spread out 20 feet.

Budget – Paul said the budget is getting down. He spent $500.00 on the copier, $375.00 on the unexpected removal of the tree and wants to purchase fertilizer with a grub eliminator that will cost between $300.00 and $500.00 for a section in the lower part of Hillside that he has trouble getting grass to grow in. With any remaining money he will purchase belts, blades, etc.

Mr. Pease made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:45 a.m. Mr. Szarlan seconded the motion.
