                     J. Szarlan
                     P. Lovell
                     J. Nothe

Mr. Hasenjager called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the clerk and accepted with a motion by Mr. Pease and seconded by Mr. Szarlan.

OLD BUSINESS:

Pay Scale – Debi Mahar, the Town Accountant, spoke with Paul about his raise and said it would have to go before the Selectmen due to the $14,000.00 Pay Rate Survey the Town just had done for them. The Selectmen invited the Commissioners to meet with them in Executive Session on September 11, 2001 at 8:00 p.m. The Commissioners agreed not to meet with the Selectmen as they felt Paul was adequate and deserving of his raise. Mr. Szarlan spoke with the Town Administrator, Gretchen Neggers, over the telephone during the Cemetery meeting stating the Commissioners agreed not to meet with the Selectmen and intended to give Paul the raise. Ms. Neggers told Mr. Szarlan if Paul were to get a raise, the Water/Sewer Commission would give their employee a raise, as they were complaining about this survey also, and this would throw the whole $14,000.00 survey out the window. Ms. Neggers explained to Mr. Szarlan, this is the starting point for the salary base. In a few years it should equal out and they are aware adjustments are going to occur. Mr. Szarlan suggested letting this go for now and find a different approach. He said in six months he would like to get a meeting together where they could sit down with Ms. Neggers and the Board of Selectmen to discuss Paul’s raise. Mr. Pease made a motion to table the raise for now. Mr. Szarlan seconded the motion. Paul also was in agreement. Mr. Hasenjager did not agree on this motion.

NEW BUSINESS:

Road Repairs on Thompson Street – Paul said since the state widened Thompson Street, they made the embankment by the Cemetery wall too steep to mow. Paul said he spoke with a man on the job that said he would relay the message to his boss but didn’t think anything could be done to correct the problem. There is a 200 foot area that now has to be trimmed instead of the 50 foot area it used to be. Mr. Szarlan suggested a push mower. Paul said it is too steep for a push mower. Mr. Pease suggested putting chips in there. Paul said chips would just wash out. John suggested putting into the budget, funds to purchase Creeping Junipers to plant along the wall in this area.

Large Monument – Paul said David Beaudoin spoke with him a few weeks back about purchasing a large section in the cemetery to install a large monument. Paul didn’t think Mr. Beaudoin would go through with this idea, but wanted the Cemetery Commissioners to be aware of it just in case. Mr. Szarlan said if any more is mentioned regarding this, to have Mr. Beaudoin submit a sketch and to invite Mr. Beaudoin to attend the Commissioners meeting.

Mr. Szarlan made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Pease seconded the motion.

Respectfully Submitted, Gaylin Bingle, Clerk
