Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order at 5:40 p.m.
Members present were Beau Schneider, Carrie Payne and Vicki Alfano.
Motion to accept the minutes from April 30, 2014 was made by Beau Schneider and seconded by Vicki Alfano. All in favor. The minutes of March 20, 2013 cannot be accepted at this time and were tabled.
The Board has not received any new interest in potential Board members to date.
Claire Forgues gave an update on Lorri McCool’s involvement with the Monson resident, senior services and the resident’s condemned residence. The Town’s atty. has registered a lien against the property at the registry of deeds in Springfield to have the property cleaned up. Lorri McCool to sign, have notarized and return to Town Administrator.
Bill schedules, abatements and licenses signed. Vice Chair, Beau Schneider will temporarily sign under BOH Chairman until the Board is re-structured.
Sample complaint form from Palmer has been re-vamped to fit Monson’s criteria. An anonymous complaint has already been received at the office and the form forwarded to the Board for review an
any action to be taken.
Copy of letter from Mrs. Arruda on Town Farm Rd. regarding trash payment and her real estate bill after she met with the Board has been placed in file.
Board of health responsibilities:
- Beavers – Carrie Payne –Lorri McCool to date has not submitted her new cover letter that is being drafted for potential new beaver situations. Nothing new to report.
- Bulky Day –successful event. Board to sign prepared thank you letters. At this time, bills from tire co. and electronics have not been received. Board members reviewed report with tally of disposed items. Discussion about an alternative way to hang the Bulky Day banner. Possibly of researching some kind of pulley pole on the idea of a flag pole on both sides of the street for easy up and removal. Members to research.
- Communicable Diseases- Beau Schneider- Vicki Alfano and Beau Schneider commented that there is no outbreak reported of MERA in our area.
- Emergency Preparedness –Carrie Payne- nothing new to report.
- Finances- Beau Schneider- copy of FY2015 budget voted at Town meeting provided for each Board member. Republic Services sending in checks for scholarship and benches.
- Floor Drains- Beau Schneider- 2014 paperwork to go out for June 1st. from the office. Letters to be modified with receipt of documentation date of August 4, 2014. Beau Schneider will make necessary changes to the regulation copy that will be included in the mailing.
- Food Safety-Beau Schneider-Nothing new to report.
- Hazardous Waste Day-Beau Schneider-Possibly next event sometime in 2015.
- Health Fair- Carrie Payne- Possible Health fair to be held this Fall.
- Medical Reserve Corp. Beau Schneider- Nothing new to report.
- Outdoor Wood Burning Units-Beau Schneider- Nothing new to report.
- Press Relations-Carrie Payne- Nothing new to report.
- Recycling- nothing new to report.
- Tobacco-Beau Schneider-Federal government getting involved with the regulation of e-cigs.
- Trash- Nothing new to report.
- Wells-Lorri McCool & Beau Schneider- Permit for new well at Tree House Brewery has been submitted for Lorri McCool’s review.
Reviewed correspondence and mail. The Board reviewed correspondence and mail. Lorri McCool still has with # 6 from the Jan. 8th meeting.
Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday , May 29, 2014 at 5:30 pm.
Beau Schneider made motion to adjourn at 7:10 pm, seconded by Carrie Payne.
