October 9, 2013
Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order at 5:40 p.m.
Members present were Beau Schneider, Vicki Alfano and Carrie Payne.
Motion to accept the minutes from September 25, 2013 was made by Beau Schneider and seconded by Vicki Alfano . All in favor.
The minutes of March 20, 2013 cannot be accepted at this time and were tabled.
Bill schedules and licenses signed. Vice Chair, Beau Schneider will temporarily sign under BOH Chairman until the Board is re-structured.
Board of health responsibilities:
- Beavers – Carrie Payne –Reviewed four previous permits.
- Bulky Day –Reviewed figures from Bulky Day, Oct. 5th. Very successful with large participation. Thank you letters prepared and ready for signature.
- Communicable Diseases- Beau Schneider- checking MAVEN on a regular basis.
- Emergency Preparedness –Carrie Payne----- nothing new to report.
- Finances- Beau Schneider_-Bills not received from Bulky Day, as of yet.
- Floor Drains- Beau Schneider-Beau received call from the state in regards to the drains. Still no paperwork from EWS at this time. Further discussion tabled for next meeting.
- Food Safety-Beau Schneider-Lorri McCool has completed the school kitchens inspections.
- Hazardous Waste Day-Beau Schneider- Carrie Payne to send press releases to the TV stations and Claire Forgues to send article to the Journal. M-Pact already has information, as well as posted on Town website under News & Announcements. Claire to make copies of what will/will not be accepted for the participants. Beau Schneider to make contact with the police dept. on traffic flow for the day, so the event runs smoothly. Further planning tabled for the next meeting.
- Health Fair- Carrie- nothing new to report.
- Medical Reserve Corp.__Beau – nothing new to report.
- Outdoor Wood Burning Units__Beau—Lorri McCool did inspection of Waid Rd. address and found to be in compliance. CO signed by Lorri and given to building inspector.
- Press Relations-Carrie Payne- See above: Hazardous Waste Day.
- Recycling- BOH received an e-mail from Call 2 Recycle and our application for a rechargeable battery return receptacle under advisement.
- Tobacco- Beau –BP station submitted check for license re-newal. Prepared and ready for signatures.
- Trash-Nothing new to report.
- Wells-Lorri McCool & Beau Schneider-nothing new to report.
Discussion on permit/license fees tabled for next meeting. Claire to make copies of survey done of fees in other town’s for comparison.
Drug Take Back Day scheduled for Sat. Oct. 26th from 10-2pm here at 29 Thompson St. Police officer will be on duty and BOH members to share time slots. Lorri McCool will be present for the start of the event. Carrie Payne to be in attendance from 10-12pm and Vicki Alfano from 12-2pm.
ICS training. Carrie Payne to provide Vicki Alfano with training material and both to take online course and print certificates upon completion.
Reviewed with the Board, copy of beaver permit that the Town of Brimfield currently uses. Upon their approval, Claire Forgues will have scanned into our documents for future use.
Reviewed correspondence and mail. Read and accepted letter of resignation from Evelyn Lane.
Board members given a copy of the Mass. Assoc. of Health Boards Newsletter. Enclosed was information on the upcoming MAHB Certification Programs. Beau Schneider advised that they should all go on the link, see what it entails for the Nov. 16th, 2013 class, so they might all register to take the training to be certified .Carrie Payne will not be available and Vicki Alfano will have to check her work schedule. Tabled for next meeting.
Next meeting scheduled for Monday, October 28, 2013.
