June 5, 2013
Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order at 5:40 p.m.
Members present were Beau Schneider, Jane Jacobs and Carrie Payne. Phyllis Klick was absent. Charles P. Cournoyer was also in attendance.
Motion to accept the minutes from May 22, 2013 were made by Beau Schneider and seconded by Jane Jacobs . All in favor.
The minutes of March 20, 2013 cannot be accepted at this time and were tabled.
Bill schedules, letters of appreciation and licenses signed.
Beau Schneider asked, if we had heard from the school nurse or received any communications in regards to the case of chicken pox? No info at this time. Beau said, he will contact the school nurse for feed-back.
Beau Schneider updated the Board that he can sign-in to MAVEN, but at this time has no access to cases.
Board of health responsibilities:
- Beavers – Carrie Payne –Beaver permit for the highway dept. and the problem on Waid Rd. has been issued.
- Bulky Day – Ms. Klick ____not present
- Communicable Diseases-Mr. Beau Schneider- reviewed the e-mail sent to all board members in regards to the Larvicide bill pending.
- Emergency Preparedness –Carrie Payne----- Carrie and Beau Schneider will try an attend the meeting to be held June 19th in the BOH office by Jonathan Miller and the MRC.
- Finances- Phyllis & Beau____the Board to sign the warrant for the MAHB annual dues of $150.00. Carrie also asked about logging into MAHB.
- Floor Drains- Beau Schneider____nothing new to report. Letters sent to individuals with floor drains.
- Food Safety- Jane Jacobs__nothing new to report.
- Hazardous Waste Day__Phyllis Klick____ tabled discussion. Phyllis Klick not in attendance.
- Health Fair__Jane & Carrie__nothing new to report.
- Medical Reserve Corp.__Beau – Carrie Payne and Beau to attend meeting on June 19th, 2013.
- Outdoor Wood Burning Units__Beau- nothing new to report.
- Press Relations__Carrie Payne- nothing new to report.
- Recycling__Phyllis__- per Claire, Allied Waste/Republic Services to try and provide some bins to the office possibly Friday, June 7th and then when a larger order comes into Republic, they will provide us with more.
- Tobacco- Beau ---nothing new to report. Tobacco licenses for re-newal are in the mail.
- Trash-Phyllis—not present.
- Wells-Lorri McCool & Beau Schneider____nothing new to report.
Reviewed correspondence and mail.
Jane Jacobs advised the BOH that there was a small refrigerator belonging to the Board at the Police station to store dead birds in for testing. As it is no longer used for that purpose and belongs to the Board, Claire to make a call and make arrangements to have the frig returned to the BOH office.
Beau Schneider has the remainder of this years vaccine and will be responsible for returning it to sender.
The Board reviewed an e-mail from the state advising that death certificates are now going to all be electronic. Strictly informational for the Board.
With deep regret, Jane Jacobs has submitted her resignation to the Board effective June 30, 2013 and will not be seeking re-appointment. The Board of Selectmen accepted her letter at their last meeting May 28th, 2013.

Jane Jacobs made motion to adjourn at 6:20 p.m. and seconded by Beau Schneider.
