Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order at 5:55 p.m.
Members present were Beau Schneider, Jane Jacobs, Phyllis Klick and Carrie Payne. Lorri McCool was also in attendance.
Motion to accept the minutes from Apr. 24, 2013 were made by Beau Schneider and seconded by Jane Jacobs. All in favor.
The minutes of March 20, 2013 cannot be accepted at this time and were tabled.
Bill schedules and licenses signed.
Carrie Payne’s appointment to the Board was signed by members.
By unanimous vote, the Board was re-structured and Phyllis Klick is Chairman and John Schneider is Vice-chair. Responsibilities were re-assigned as follows:
Board of Heath Responsibilities:
Bulky Day – Ms. Klick ____Phyllis advised very successful Spring Bulky Day. Possibly will have a tire truck for the October Bulky day. Letters of appreciation to be signed by Board and mailed. Board to give thought to a Hazardous Waste Day possibly this Fall.
- Communicable Diseases-Mr. Beau Schneider- Advised the Board that we have been removed from MAVEN and Lorri McCool and Beau will handle new training for re-connection. Claire also advised the Board about the balance of mosquito cakes and obtaining information about certification for Paul Demaio and Tim Pascale.
- Emergency Preparedness –Carrie Payne-----nothing new as of this time.
- Finances- Phyllis & Beau____nothing new to report
- Floor Drains- Beau Schneider____nothing new to report
- Food Safety- Jane Jacobs__nothing new to report
- Hazardous Waste Day__Phyllis Klick____ Possibly a scheduled date this fall.
- Health Fair__Jane & Carrie__nothing new to report
- Medical Reserve Corp.__Beau__nothing new to report
- Outdoor Wood Burning Units__Beau_____Responded to a complaint at a residence on Lower Hampden Rd. about continued outdoor wood burning unit. Season ends April 15th. Beau drafted letter and was sent to homeowner.
Press Relations__Carrie Payne---Was successful in advertising Bulky Day on the local TV channels.
Recycling__Phyllis__- Beau asked, if the plastic grocery bags are re-cyclable and was advised “yes”.
Tobacco- Beau ---nothing new to report
Trash-Phyllis—few complaints, she took care of.
- Wells-Lorri McCool & Beau Schneider____nothing new to report.
Reviewed correspondence and mail. The Board took note of DEP complaint at Soft Touch Car Wash. Now being handled by Conservation.
Take-Back-Day for Sat. April 27 was a success per Lorri McCool. Two and one half large containers were filled.
Beau Schneider to handle tick correspondence and return paperwork at next meeting to folder.
Board reviewed letter pertaining to the site plan for Monson Developemental Center. Per Lorri McCool, this is mainly an update from the DEP.

Jane Jacobs made motion to adjourn at 7:00 p.m. and seconded by Beau Schneider.
