April 24, 2013
Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
Members present were Beau Schneider, Jane Jacobs and Phyllis Klick.

The Board was advised that Chair Gary Allard has resigned after his meeting Tuesday night April 23rd with the Board of Selectman. His letter of resignation is to follow. Carrie Payne was appointed to the Board  by the Selectman at their meeting to fill the vacant position of Margaret Harrison until June 30th.

Carrie Payne in attendance at this meeting and will schedule a time to be sworn in.

Motion to accept the minutes from Apr. 3, 2013 were made by Beau Schneider and seconded by Jane Jacobs. All in favor.
The minutes of March 20, 2013 cannot be accepted at this time and were tabled.

Bill schedules and licenses signed.

Board of Heath Responsibilities:
  • Beavers – Mr. Allard _______absent
  • Bulky Day – Ms. Klick  ____Phyllis advised arrangements all set with P & F, Woodbine( Beau to pick-up coffee etc.) and for the tent to be put up. Jane Jacobs to contacted Adam’s for lunch and they will deliver. Phyllis contacted  John Morrell and he will have 5 workers and Claire will be working along with 2 others.  P & F will also do propane tanks, but NO tires. Flourescent bulbs will be taken by Allied/Republic services. There will be 2 packers and 4 roll-offs from Allied Waste/Republic Services, an electronics truck, Beau Schneider will bring all the office supplies and re-cycle bins and Carrie Payne advised the Board, she has a large folding table which she will bring for Dot Jenkins and staff.
  • Communicable Diseases-Mr. Beau Schneider- Advised the Board that we have been removed from MAVEN.
  • Emergency Preparedness –Beau -nothing new to report
  • Finances- Phyllis & Beau____nothing new to report
  • Floor Drains- Mr. Allard______absent
  • Food Safety- Jane Jacobs__nothing new to report
             
  • Hazardous Waste Day__Phyllis Klick____  nothing new to report
  • Health Fair__Jane __nothing new to report
  • Medical Reserve Corp.__Beau__nothing new to report
  • Outdoor Wood Burning Units__Gary _______absent
  • Press Relations__Gary__ absent
  • Recycling__Phyllis__- Phyllis has received a few calls about re-cycles being missed and she has taken care of calling Allied Waste/Republic Services.
  • Tobacco-  Beau ---nothing new to report
  • Trash-Phyllis—complaint about  263 Palmer Rd. Property owner not on site (rental) and trash continually all yard and neighborhood. Barrels left for disposal all the time on curbside. Phyllis to address problem.
  • Wells-Gary—absent
   Reviewed correspondence and mail.  The Board took note of DEP complaint at Soft Touch Car Wash. Old tires and street sand were being used to build retaining wall along the water. Conservation has been also notified and Phyllis to look into the situation.
Per Liz Manley, she has decided at add a second life guard to all open swims and pool parties. This is in direct response to “Christian’s Law”.
Allied Waste/Republic Services submitted the scholarship check in the amount of $1500.00 and it has been turned over to the scholarship committee. A thank you was sent via e-mail to Mike Szcepan. Gift to the Town to follow.
Upcoming Take-Back-Day for Sat. April 27 being coordinated with the police dept. It will be held at 29 Thompson St. from 10-2p.m. Posters distributed around town and to local businesses.

Jane Jacobs  made motion to adjourn at 6:50 p.m. and seconded by Beau Schneider.
