Discussed the ICS online training that Board members need to complete. Liz Manley has offered to print test, advise, and then tests can be submitted online. Board members would like her to do that. Claire to send her an e-mail to set this up.
Mike Szczepan from Republic Services/Allied Waste brought 15 new re-cycle bins and advised the Board that he could furnish us with more (no prices quoted, at this time) in the future instead of ordering from Canada. The Board would not have to buy in such large quanities, as they are hard to store. It was also decided by those present, not to pursue bins with covers, as they are too much of a nuisance for storage and also the re-cycle drivers. Any further purchase was tabled at this time and possibly until the new town office building is ready for occupancy. General complaints were discussed and also the proper disposal of paints and light bulbs. The new light bulbs, when burned out, should be returned to the store where purchased or possibly brought to Bulky Day. In regards to the upcoming storm on Friday the 8th thru the 9th, Mike suggested his truck come to Monson and start an hour earlier at 6a.m. Otherwise, will have to play catch-up. To call Claire on Thursday the 7th to
advise decision.
Scholarship monies for this year to be doubled totaling $1500.00. Board discussed whether to have (3) $500.00 ones or (6) $250.00 ones. Also, student pursuing field of environmental engineering or science would be part of the criteria. This was tabled for more discussion at the next meeting.
Lorri McCool advised the Board that she had an issue this past week with a burst sprinkler system at the Adam’s plaza affecting the Chinese restaurant and also Village pizza. When she did an inspection, she noted violations in cleanliness that needed to be addressed. She will do follow-up. Also, an issue at 5-7 Park Ave. with burst pipes and no water. Working with tenant and also discussion with Ms. Peg Harrison about future alternatives. Lorri, also advised the Board, that she met with Mrs. Jean Bailey who is on the Summerfest committee and she and Mrs. Bailey are going to formulate a packet/booklet for all the food vendors that will list all the requirements for the sale of food. These, when completed, will be used in years to come no matter who serves on the committee.
Reviewed correspondence and mail. #1 in the correspondence was Mass DEP Recycling and Solid Waste survey that Ms. Phyllis Klick will take home and complete online.
Dates for next meeting: February 20th at 5:30 p.m.
Vice Chair Phyllis Klick made motion to adjourn at 7:00 p.m. and seconded by Mr. Beau Schneider.
