Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order at ____________5:38p.m._____
by_Gary Allard_________.  Members present: _____Gary Allard, Peg Harrison, Jane Jacobs and Beau Schneider.   Member absent Phyllis Klick.   

Copies of an e-mail sent to a BOH Board member by the BOH Administrative Assistant were distributed to present members for review per Chair Gary Allard’s request. After discussion, it was agreed by the Board, that the situation and e-mail was handled in an appropriate manner. Chair Gary Allard commented that the Board should be represented in a “professional manner”.

The Board read and reviewed the minutes of __Oct. 3, 2012___.  Ms. Peg Harrison moved to accept the Minutes as presented, seconded by Mr. Beau Schneider and voted unanimously.

Bill schedules and permit signed.

Board of Heath Responsibilities:
  • Beavers – Mr. Allard _______nothing new to report__________
Bulky Day – Ms. Klick  _________Chair Gary Allard stated that we had another successful Bulky Day. When scheduling the Spring event, it will be up to the dept. head, as to how many workers he/she feels is necessary to run the event smoothly.

  • Communicable Diseases-Mr. Beau Schneider- 1 additional case of Lyme disease.                
  • Emergency Preparedness –----Hard copy of (COOP) available in BOH office and Administrative Assistant to e-mail copy to strategic dept. heads, as a reference guide. Thank you letter to be sent to intern, Nicole Cormier for all her hard work in producing the COOP and also to Lorri McCool who was Nicole’s mentor.
  • Finances –---Administrative Assistant to check into new order for re-cycle bins. See, if there is a possibility of obtaining a different bins with drainage holes and also covers. Costs and feasibility to be presented at next meeting.
  • Floor Drains--Mr. Allard----Yearly letters need to be sent to establishments with industrial and commercial drains.
  • Food Safety-Ms. Jacobs----nothing new to report
  • Hazardous Waste Day—Phyllis—nothing new to report
  • Health Fair—Jane & Peg---Scheduled for Oct. 20th. Many vendors that were contacted are not coming. Will have BP, chair massage, FLU SHOTS, MRC, OT, etc. present. Ms. Harrison, also asked the Board, what they thought about possibly obtaining pneumonia shots. Ms. Jane Jacobs, said, no. Ms. Peg Harrison will check into it.
  • Medical Reserve Corp.---Peg----to be present at Health Fair.
  • Outdoor Wood Burning Units- Gary—nothing new to report.
  • Press Relations—Gary—All thank you letters pertaining to Bulky Day to be signed and sent. The Board still has not received a response from Allied Waste pertaining to 2011-12 scholarship and Town donation monies.
  • Recycling—Ms. Klick—nothing new to report.  As above under Finances.
  • Tobacco—Beau—nothing new to report. Check with Lorri McCool about who is responsible for checking establishments that sell tobacco products.
  • Trash—Ms. Klick—nothing new to report.
  • Wells—Mr. Allard—nothing new to report.
Correspondence read and reviewed.  Administrative Assistant contacted the Coalition to see, if there was any funding for BOH t-shirts and jackets. There will be monies available and the Board will be notified when it becomes accessible. Should be a couple of weeks.  BLT’s, a shirt printing company, to be contacted for a quote. The Monson Fire Dept is in charge of making ID’S and when the Board is ready, the chief is to be contacted and they can be done. All that is required is a small donation from the Board ($50.00) to cover expenses. Monies could also be from Coalition.

Letter from resident Mark Parry to Selectman disputing trash charges again discussed. Chair Gary Allard talked with Selectman Ed Harrison and explained Mark Parry does not qualify, has not applied for abatement and considered any illegal transfer. Also, Mr. Allard pointed out that use of the construction site dumpster for household trash and food is in violation of construction statues. If  either Mark Parry and or Mr. Schebel would like to come before the Board for a further explanation, they are welcome to. Selectman Ed Harrison to contact resident.

E-mail received from New England Disposal Technologies regarding new center up and running. Mr. Gary Allard asked, that info be put on BOH web page as a link.
