Regular meeting of the Monson Board of Health was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Gary Allard. Members present: Phyllis Klick, Margaret Harrison and John Schneider. Jane Jacobs entered the meeting at 6:15 p.m.
The Board read and reviewed the Minutes of February 16, 2011. Ms. Harrison moved to accept the minutes as presented, seconded by Mr. Schneider and so voted.
The Board signed bills and necessary correspondence.
Board of Health responsibilities:
- Beavers – Mr. Allard had nothing to report.
- Bulky Day – Ms. Klick informed the Board that she has been contacted by a resident who wishes to volunteer to help out on Bulky Day. Ms. Taft was asked to check and make sure this would be permissible in regard to liability.
- Communicable Diseases – Mr. Schneider informed the Board that there was (1) case of Lyme disease and (1) Campylobacteriosis. He further informed the Board that he has downloaded the correct forms for notifying the state of reportable diseases. The state is also implementing MAVEN and Lorri McCool is also involved with this program.
- Emergency Preparedness – Ms. Harrison had nothing to report.
- Finances – Ms. Klick informed the Board that she has spoken to Town Collector, Dorothy Jenkins, who informed her that everyone is waiting to hear from the state before making decisions on the budget. The Selectmen will be meeting shortly to discuss the budget.
- Floor Drains – Mr. Allard had nothing to report.
- Food Safety – Ms. Jacobs had nothing to report.
- Hazardous Waste Day – Ms. Taft was asked to check with the Fire Department to see if the Board has a banner for this event, as the dates will eventually have to be changed. Ms. Taft was asked to check with Lorri McCool to see if she has any information on the collection of prescription medicine during the event. This subject will be placed on the next agenda as Ms. McCool will be attending the March 16th meeting.
Housing Safety – Mr. Allard had nothing to report.
Medical Reserve Corps – Ms. Harrison had nothing to report.
Outdoor Hydronic Heaters – Mr. Allard had nothing to report.
Press Relations – Ms. Jacobs had nothing to report.
Recycling – Mr. Klick had nothing to report.
Tobacco – Mr. Schneider had nothing to report.
Trash – Ms. Klick had nothing to report.
Wells – Mr. Allard had nothing to report.
The Board read and responded to correspondence.
At 6:30 p.m. Ms. Klick moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ms. Harrison and voted unanimously.
